About the Founder
Desmond Nicholas was born and raised in Western New York and graduated from Canisius High School in 2016, where he excelled in football, track, and baseball. He went on to graduate from the University of Michigan in 2020, competing in both football and track and field while studying music.
A lifelong fashion enthusiast, Desmond believes style is the most powerful way to express who you are without saying a word. He created BuffHead to merge fashion with sports fan culture—bringing bold, expressive style to the stands.
Desmond is working alongside 2 of his closest friends from college: Ben Hester, who ran track and field, graduated from Ross Business School ; & Sierra Hendrix-Williams, who also ran track and graduated from school of social work. With the goal to of course, sell as many BuffHeads as possible, they are also committing to creating scholarships for high school children wanting to go to school to become a psychologist / therapist in the Buffalo and Detroit areas. They want to help accelerate the movement of normalizing mental health & therapy by creating more licensed professionals & spaces for people to seek help.
To Des, being a “BuffHead” means having the confidence to believe in yourself without apology. It’s about self-love, pride, and thinking highly of yourself—even in a world that sometimes tells you not to. BuffHead is more than a brand—it’s a mindset.
